Watch Daniel, Ali and Luke in action on their prayer walks and listen to their positive words while they pray for different parts of Wakefield!

“Recently, I got talking to someone who mentioned their adult daughter had a severe illness. Because I’ve been involved with prayer walking I said, ‘I follow Jesus and believe in the power of prayer: could I just say a quick prayer now for your daughter?’ After I had prayed, the lady was visibly touched and said, ‘That was one of the kindest things that has ever happened to me.’” - Anonymous

See how much of Wakefield turned purple as we prayed for our city!

Joint Prayer Walking Around Wakefield!

Monday

We set off from New Life Church Wakefield and prayed around town. The word was ‘dry bones’.

Ezekiel 37:4-5
‘Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the Lord! This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life.’

Wednesday

We set off from Smawthorne Community Church with a great turn out of prayer walkers and prayed around the Castleford area. There were lots of prayers for the drug problems in the area, the word was ‘light in the darkness’

John 1:5
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Ephesians 5:8
For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light.

Friday

Christians in Wakefield gathered in the city centre on Good Friday morning for the walk of witness, to remember what Jesus did on the cross for us, that He paid it all for us so that we can be free

Tuesday

We set off from St Andrew’s and walked around Eastmoor. It was a very rainy day and a sign that stood out to us was ‘washlands’. This could speak of revival, rivers of living water, the cleansing of sins…

John 4:14
…but whoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall never thirst; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

Thursday

We set off from Rainbow Cafe on a beautifully sunny day and walked around Portobello, Agbrigg and Sandal, ending up at Portobello Community Centre. Everywhere we looked seemed to speak of spring. Flowers everywhere, gardeners doing their gardens, signs with the word spring in them. This is a place that will be revived and will flourish again!

One of us saw Church members being scattered and planted like seeds around the area and blossoming in lots of small pockets of hope.

“When we went out around Eastmoor to prayer walk we came across what looked like an empty run down church building. We learnt that there was no local Church presence on that estate apart from that building so we spent some time praying that the building would be filled with life.

Prior to coming across the building I passed a sign that said 'Washlands' and therefore prayed that the spirit of God would flow out of that building and saturate the surround estate.

A couple of weeks later we had a Vision Wakefield gathering and it was exciting to hear that a prayer meeting was being organised at the building to listen from God about launching a new congregation in that facility.

Please continue to pray that God would call the right people at the right time into that estate to be his agents of change and to see the Kingdom come in Eastmoor”. - Ali Crompton
